Venus Flytrap carnivorous plant - 10 seeds

The most popular carnivorous plant because of its appearance, the venus flytrap is a dangerous plant that bares snapping claws that trap it prey once inside. The venus flytrap (dionaea muscipula) sustains is found in poor in soils but they make up for the well needed nutrients by capturing live organisms such as flies and mosquitos and absorbing all the necessary ingredients from its pray.

Some people have observed venus flytraps to even capture bigger animals like small frogs and big spiders! The venus flytrap has many small hair inside its claws. When the animal steps on one of these little hair it becomes aware of the animals existence. To make sure this was not a fluke the venus flytrap will only close up when a second hair is activated! When the animal steps on the second hair then  the flytrap snaps in milliseconds, not allowing its victim to react in any way. The flytrap needs a wet, moist environment in order to grow.

As mentioned before the venus flytrap as many carnivorous plants is found in poor in nutrients soil that are low in nigrogen. Because of the poor soil the carnivorous plants evolved in such a way that they drain their prey from the much needed nutrients. Carnivorous plants do not require fertilizers to sustain themselves. Despite found in warm climates the venus flytrap can withstand mild winters.
Each of the flytraps claws can be used about  8 times till they become obsolete and wither and die. At that point a new claw will be developed and grow in order for the plant to sustain itself. For the above reason it is not advised to test the flytrap claws, as it will reduce the amount of times the plant can use it. Seeds need light for germination but are easy to germinate and grow under the proper conditions. Dionaea seeds growing instructions are included in every order.
When the plant isn’t able to catch any flies or mosquitoes it is advised to be fed manually. The best way to feed the plant manually is to place a small insect within its trap and keep moving it gently with a small toothpick until the plant snaps its claw tight! A good way to sustain a venus flytrap is within a small terrarium.
